[vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Website makeover for a school of traveling musicians!” sub_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:35px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:35px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_single_image image=”2176″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]This was a start to finish web makeover that involved moving site and content from an old html and java widget based system to a full, friendly WordPress design (including some database corruption heartbreaks and syntax sleuthing).

One of the things I loved about this project was sourcing and fine tuning the high end music themed images. They are just so beautiful. It’s also got a fun, vibrant color scheme.

I created a new slider to help showcase the school, came up with the information flow and pages and added some extra contact options (like Book Online). As always, I learned a ton from this project including how to make custom icon fonts with fontello.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Visit Traveling Musician!” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Ftravelingmusician.com%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Creating a Clean, New Look” alignment=”left” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:35px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]I felt it was really important to keep things that clients of Traveling Musician were familiar with like their existing logo, but make it work with the images and new content layout. I needed to recreate the logo from scratch to have the option of a white version for use on colored images. I also had to take concepts from the old website, like benefits, service area, and the different kinds of students served and present them in a new way.

This counter from the home page is a good example.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2174″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Flexible Back End Allows for Easy Client updates” alignment=”left” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:35px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2172″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Because my clients typically have tight budgets, I like to make sure their websites are set up so that they can easily control their content and make changes without having to ask for my help. (I don’t like to nickel and dime, but I’m also always willing to help my clients too.) In addition to the web design and getting their information laid out well, I provide a visual walk through in PDF form with instructions and screenshots, so they always have a reference for changing fields, swapping images, adding a new blog post or doing plug in maintenance.

In this example, Staff members have their own post type. They show up on the About Us page. The client can easily add staff members as they grow and choose to have the whole team show up anywhere on the site with the use of a simple shortcode.

I like easy and this is easy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1518031127016{margin-top: -50px !important;}”][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Here’s the Tricky Part” alignment=”left” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:35px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]One of the requirements for the site was that it include an online store for their musical merchandise. The client did not want to have to maintain and manage separate entire and inventory. Especially since they already have a working store on Reverb. I was provided with a snippet of code, which, when embedded in the page was to display the items from the client’s store. It did not work the first few tries.

Thanks to some sleuthing, good documentation at Reverb, and a review of the code with a fine tooth comb. I solved the mystery (a little like an Agatha Christie, but without the body).

I also applied some custom CSS to get everything to look nice. Again, a nod to the good documentation on Reverb.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2177″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”The Icing and the Cherry on Top” alignment=”left” margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:35px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_single_image image=”2173″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]One of my (many) favorite things about WordPress is how easy the Google Maps integration is. Here is a nicely colored view of the client’s service area (the icing) and a custom pin (the cherry on top) to show their home base.

This was such a fun project and I loved supporting the folks who taught me and my daughter music for many years![/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Visit Traveling Musician!” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Ftravelingmusician.com%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
